Partner - Intellectual Property and IP Strategies

A member of the Paris Bar since 2004 and a partner at the law firm DDG, Jean-Daniel Bouhénic represents French and international companies in strategic matters involving both legal and business issues, providing both advisory and litigation services.

He assists his clients in crisis situations, pre-litigation matters, and IP litigation to protect their economic interests. Jean-Daniel’s practice focuses in particular on expert witness testimony, litigation before civil, commercial, and arbitration courts, and the protection of investments against the improper appropriation of economic value, the abrupt termination of business relationships, or the breach of distribution agreements.

Working in coordination with his clients’ teams, he leads the negotiation and drafting of IP contracts designed to monetize and secure the exploitation of IP content through strategic partnerships, licensing agreements, rights assignments, and distribution contracts, while addressing current issues (AI, CSR, data, etc.). He also ensures the secure development and deployment of technologies (development contracts, SaaS contracts, TMA, IT compliance, data, etc.).

He works alongside M&A departments to analyze intellectual property assets and contracts of target companies or companies involved in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, or restructuring.

Jean-Daniel employs a highly specialized sector-based approach for French and international clients in the retail s (e-commerce, luxury goods), entertainment (audiovisual content, video games, live performances), and agri-food (trademark protection and litigation related to designations of origin) sectors.

He teaches intellectual property law (as an adjunct professor at Audencia in the MSc programs in Sustainable Luxury Management and Brand Strategy & Product Management / IRPI, National Chamber of Judicial Auctioneers), participates in various conferences (Sustainable Development and Contracts; Business and IP Rights Ownership), and publishes articles in leading legal journals (CCE, Dalloz).
